Alexander McQueen 3D Enameled Skull Bangle

April 5, 2012

My birthday was a little over a week ago and I spent it in one of my most favorite cities in the world: London! Four amazing days of riding the tube all across the city, doing some sightseeing, enjoying the weather, architecture and scenery, and of course I seized the opportunity to do some shopping as well. One cannot visit London and not shop!

On the second day there, I visited the Alexander McQueen UK flagship store, located at 4-5 Old Bond Street near the Piccadilly Circus underground station. I’m still a bit bummed that I forgot to take pictures of the store. I found this store to be nicer looking than the one in Las Vegas. It was larger too, featuring womenswear and accessories on the ground floor and menswear at the lower level. The staff was very friendly and funny, and provided that little bit of extra care one would expect from a designer label.

The bangle I purchased is the 3D enameled skull bangle in black and silver. It’s a tight fit over the hand, but hangs from the wrist loosely. The bangle is made from enamel coated brass with an anti-allergic silver finish and features a 3D skull detail.

Tokyo Milk

March 4, 2012

One of my most recent and favorite finds has to be the Tokyo Milk line of fragrances and cosmetics. The line includes perfumes, lip balms, creams, lotions, candles, accessories and much more. There’s a large selection of different scents and products, and each and every one of them are designed beautifully. I ordered the following items.

Let Them Eat Cake perfume by Tokyo Milk

I chose a few different perfumes. The first one is called Let Them Eat Cake, and comes in a transparent glass bottle with a vintage image of a cake inside. The notes are sugar cane, coconut milk, vanilla orchid and white musk. And oh my, this one is delicious! I’ve been using it almost every day since I got it, it truly makes you smell like cake. It’s very sweet, vanilla-ey, and just lovely.

Arsenic hand cream and Tainted Love perfume by Tokyo Milk

The second perfume (pictured on the above right) belongs to the Dark collection, and is called Tainted Love. This one comes in a solid black bottle and has the image of an antique key on it. The notes are dark vanilla bean, orchid, white tea and sandalwood.
I’ve only used this one twice so far, and I like it, but I find it a little hard to describe. It’s definitely much darker and heavier than the other perfumes I ordered.

Pictured on the above left, is the Arsenic hand cream. Now, I rarely use hand cream, but this was the only product left in the Arsenic collection so I just had to get it. The name and the ingredients appeal to me greatly so even if it ends up as a display item only, it still was worth the purchase. The hand cream comes in a black tube with the image of a beetle on it. The tube is enclosed in a tailored sleeve and tucked within a keepsake bag. The notes are absinthe, vanilla salt, cut greens and crushed fennel.

Sugar Sugar perfume and Sugar Bomb perfume set by Tokyo Milk

Another perfume is Sugar Sugar. This bottle is decorated with a tempting cherry topped cupcake and that’s exactly what this perfume smells like: sugary sweet. The notes of Sugar Sugar are coconut milk, vanilla, sandalwood and basmati rice.

Sugar Bomb (pictured on the top and bottom right) is a mix and match set of different fragrances. The set contains two vials each of three companion fragrances, which you can mix together to create your own bespoke fragrance. Again all of them are very sweet, as the name suggests. The fragrances are vanilla orchid & honeyed cocoa, tonka bean & sweet amber and sugared crème & fennel.

Sweet Cream lip balm by Tokyo Milk

Last on the list is the Sweet Cream lip balm. The lip balm comes in little box with again the image of a cupcake on it. The notes are spun sugar, blend of vanilla bean and the lightest hint of caramelized cream. This one again smells amazing, it truly smells like cupcakes and puts you in a happy state instantly.

All in all, I am very pleased with the different products and scents, and the packaging is gorgeous. I’ll definitely be trying out more products in the future.
